We
took a little break from writing because it’s the holiday season, and I have
kids. That means that life gets crazy, and I’m lucky if I get to brush my teeth
by myself let alone find 20 minutes in which to work on a blog post.

I’ve been writing A Place at the Table for a year now (give
or take a few days)! We’ve covered a lot of different areas over the last year
like board game etiquette and what to expect when attending game night. And I’ve
had fun. I hope you’ve had fun getting to know me and my family and our
thoughts on board games.

The last month has been busy for the T.C.B.G. We’ve left Earthen Ales for our Sunday night board games, and we have moved in to our own little spot in downtown Traverse City named Tabletop Underground. So far, we seem to be off to a good start. While some of us miss being able to have a beer while we play board games, it is nice to have our own spot where we don’t have to worry about keeping another business owner after closing hours if a game runs long. Let’s face it, there have been plenty of times when a game has run long. We no longer have to face the decision of trying to play out the game or rushing to end it.

My First Carcassonne

Peep and Stormageddon are eagerly awaiting their new board games that are wrapped and waiting for them under the tree. Because Number One and I play board games, it is natural that Peep and Stormy want to play them as well. While we don’t mind playing Candyland and Chutes & Ladders, it is nice to play some junior versions of games that Number One and I enjoy. While in Philadelphia in October, we picked up My First Stone Age and My First Carcassonne for the kids. We are looking forward to introducing them to their own versions of some favorite games.

My First Stone Age

New Year’s Eve will find my family playing some board games
while we wait for midnight to approach. Hopefully, we will have some more guest posts from Janeway. Maybe we will even see a T.C.B.G. podcast in the future! You never know what the future will hold!

Do you have any holiday traditions that include board games?
